At ZooMontana, Relief Caretakers carry out all aspects of the daily care of assigned animals, including cleaning, feeding, grooming, and observing animals. Level 1 Relief caretakers provide support for the Zoo Barn, Wetlands and Education/Outreach animals. This role also administers medication and treatment as directed, provides training and enrichment, and participates in education and conservation programs.

The ZooMontana Seasonal Caretaker and Educator position is designed to provide emerging individuals with hands-on experience and valuable knowledge related to the zoological and conservation fields. The Seasonal Caretaker and Educator is designed to be a hybrid position between ZooMontana’s Education Department and Animal Care Department. Activities include but are not limited to the implementation of educational ambassador programs, summer camp instruction, and ambassador animal care, training, and handling. Ambassador animals include small mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and birds. This is a career-strengthening step for those considering employment in an AZA-accredited zoological or conservation-oriented facility. Although housing is not provided, ZooMontana can aid in finding affordable housing options.

The Event Attendant is responsible for assisting with the preparation, execution, and cleanup of both private and public events at ZooMontana. This position plays a vital support role in ensuring events are set up and broken down efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with the Zoo’s mission, objectives, and guest service standards. The event season runs from May to September. These are the perfect positions for a college student or someone looking to make a little extra cash in a fun environment.

Internships are unpaid, but housing may be available for accepted students starting May 1st through July 31st.
