CYPRINUS CARPIO

Koi, or nishikigoi, (Japanese for colored Koi), belong to the Carp family.

Koi were first introduced to the world at a Tokyo exposition in 1912.

Koi are hardy, cold water fish, which go dormant in the winter.

Koi are long lived fish, with some living over 100 years.

Our Current Residents

ZooMontana has over 70 Koi. The Koi pond is cared for through the generosity of the Billings Water Skipper Pond Club.
