The Living Wall is located inside the main building at ZooMontana. It houses many smaller exhibits for an up close and personal educational experience.
Hissing Cockroaches are found only in Madagascar. These herbivorous insects feed on fruits and vegetables. Their average lifespan is 2-3 years and can grow between 5-8 centimeters long.
Chilean Rose Hair Tarantuals are carnivores, snacking on mealworms, grasshoppers and crickets. They originated from the Northern Atacama Desert region of Chile and live in the driest deserts on eart. Their average lifespan is 15-20 years and can grow between 3-4 inches long.

The Three Toed Box Turtle has an adult shell mass of 4.5-5 inches, and an adult body length of 7 inches. An omnivore, this turtle enjoys both worlds with pinkie mice, mealworms, and fruit & vegetable mixtures. These turtles can be found from eastern Texas to the northern edge of the Florida Panhandle, and north up to Missouri and south to Louisianna. Their average lifespan is 30-40 years.

The Rubber Boa feeds on small mammals such as mice and shrews, lizards and other snakes. They can be found in Pine forests, grass and shrublands and any area of dense flat rocks close to water. With an average lifespan of 20-30 years, they can grow to be between 14-28 inches in length.

Ball Pythons, like all snakes, are carnivores. They feed mostly on mice and other rodents. Ball Pythons can be found in Africa from Senegal, Mali, Guinea and Nigeria. They prefer to live in grasslands, savannahs and sparsley wooded areas. They can grow, on average, between 3-4 feet in length and up to 40 years in captivity.

The Hognose snake as an adult can grow to 15-35 inches in length. Its diet consists of amphibians such as lizards and rodents. They are mainly found in short grass prairies, grasslands and rocky semi-arid regions. In the wild they can live on average 14 years, 17-18 in captivity.

The Milk Snake is typically found in forested regions and also known to inhabit open prairies. They often abide in rocky slopes. As all snakes, the Milk Snake is a carnivore. When young, it feeds on slugs, insects and earthworms. As an adult, it feeds on lizards, birds, eggs, fish, and other snakes. It can live up to 15 years and grow anywhere from 16-28 inches in length.

The Garter Snake inhabits many areas fr0m marshes to hillsides and drainage ditches. It has an average life span of 6-20 years, feeds on slugs, lizards, earthworms, insects, leeches, birds, fish & rodents. As an adult it can grow to 13-34 inches in length.

The Eastern Yellow-Bellied Racer can grow up to 3-6 feet in length. As with all snakes, it is a carnivore whose diet consists of crickets and mice. It can be found in open grassland type habitats. They can also be found in light forest and semi-arid regions. This snake has an average life span of 10 years.

The Bull Snake likes to inhabit dry areas including forests. As an adult it can grow 3-6 feet in body length and is a carnivore. Its diet consists of rodens, rabbits, ground dwelling birds and the occasional lizard. It’s average lifespan ranges from 12-20 years.

The Cane Toad is native to the Americas in both tropical and semi-arid environments. Its diet consists of crickets, mice and mealworms. Its body mass as an adult reaches 4-6 inches in length, weighing 1-3 lbs. Cane Toads can live 10-15 years in the wild and up to 20 in captivity.

The Tiger Salamader is a carnivore, feasting on small invertebrates. It lives near water in forests and in prairie areas with adequate moisture. They spend most of the year underground. With an average lifespan of 12-15 years, it grows 6-8 inches in length and weighs only 4 ounces.

The Uromastyx Lizard is an herbivore with a diet consisting primarily of leaves and flowers, chopped greens and fruit & vegetable mixtures. It originiates from the dry deserts and srublands of SW Africa and are established in hilly, rocky areas with good shelter. As an adult, this lizard can be 10-12 inches in length and has an average lifespan of up to 50 years.
