The antics of the American Mink can be very entertaining (if you can catch her in action). Found throughout North America, this semi aquatic member of the weasel family is never far from water. The average weight of a North American Mink is 3 lbs, length 24 inches, and tail length 5-8 inches. Minks are carnivores, enjoying fish, rodents, frogs, crustaceans and birds. The average lifespan of a Mink in the wild is 1-3 years, 8 in captivity.

The Painted Turtle can be found in ponds, lakes, marshes and rivers with soft muddy bottoms. Body length can range from 4-10 inches and has an average lifespan of 20 years! Painted Turtles are omnivores and dine on insects, crayfish, worms and aquatic plants.

Degus are herbivores, they eat different types of grasses, tree shrubs and seeds. They can be found in semi-arid and partially desert-like areas of Central Chile. The average lifespan of a Degu is 6-8 years, growing to 9-12 inches in length and weighing 6-11 ounces.

Andrew is our resident Screech Owl. Screech Owls are carniverous , eating birds, fish worms and rodents. They can weigh from 2-4 lbs and grow 8-10 inches in length. In the wild, their average lifespan is just 4-6 years, 8-12 years in captivity. They can be found in open woodlands.

Chinchillas weigh 1-3 lbs and are herbivores, eating pellets and leafy greens. While an average human has 1-2 hairs per folicle, the Chinchilla has over 75 per folicle! They can be found in the Andes Mountains of Chile and have an average lifespan of 9-17 years.
