Krystal, Dr. Don and his wife, Bobbie, and Dr. Eric arrived with our new 8 year old 600+ lb bear Bruno. The rest of the keeping staff, the director and various others were there to greet Bruno. He settled in easily, drank some water, did a lot of stretches and peeled an orange. He's a very gregarious bear, doesn't really seem to mind people. We can't wait to share him with everyone but it will still be a few weeks before he's viewable by the public.

Krystal has been sending great updates and fun pictures of Bruno and our vet is almost at Knoxville Zoo with the trailer to bring Bruno home.
Check out our Bring Home Bruno page for more information!
Check out updates from Krystal, Bruno's keeper, as she gets to know ZooMontana's new bear and then travels with him to Montana.

It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I have to advise everyone our male river otter, Willie, passed away last week. His keeper had noted a change in his behavior and on Tuesday, and our vet took him into the office for x-rays and blood work. The vet administered meds for him but Willie showed no improvement. Willie was 16 years old. A river otters in the wild generally lives to around 8 or 9 years old and in captivity generally 15 to 18 years. He had a wonderful life at the zoo and excellent care by our keeping and veterinary staff through out his time at the zoo and especially over the last three days.
Annie our remaining otter will have a difficult time adapting to his loss as well and the keeping staff has already begun to monitor her and help with this transition.
