support your favorite Montana species

Here at ZooMontana we encourage everyone to "Take a Walk on the Wild Side." This motto inspires guests to connect with the wild species that call ZooMontana home. Every year, two of our great species are represented in the biggest state rivalry in football when the Montana State Bobcats face off with the University of Montana Grizzlies. The Cat/Griz game brings together fans from across the state and beyond in the most competitive game of the season and now that we have bobcats and grizzlies, we thought we should join in the friendly competition.

From now until the big game on November 21st, you can show your support for your favorite species by donating to ZooMontana. Click on the link below to donate. Make sure you choose your wild side and select "Go Cats!" or "Go Griz!" so we know which team you support!

Bobcat

Lynx rufus

Between 2-4 feet long, bobcats are the smallest cat in the Lynx family and the smallest native cat in Montana. Bobcats camouflage using countershading which allows them to hide from their prey while hunting. Click here for more information about Sonny and Goldie.

Grizzly Bear

Ursus arctos horribilis

Grizzly bears can average up to seven hundred pounds and vary from light to dark brown. Grizzly bears are just one of three subspecies of brown bears. So all grizzly bears are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies. These bears are omnivores and love to eat berries, grasses, fish, and mammals.

While there will only be one winner for the upcoming football game and this challenge, all animals win with your gift. Every donation, no matter the size, is felt by the animals in our care. ZooMontana is a private, non-profit organization which depends solely on grants and donations.
