ZooMontana has an opening for a Living Collections Keeper. Responsibilities include providing animal care, monitoring animal health, routine animal handling, behavioral enrichment, maintaining cleanliness of animal and service areas, minor exhibit modification and daily record keeping of a diverse collection of animals. Position also includes grounds work. Must be willing to participate in keeper chats, tours, animal presentations/demonstrations, and/or other public interactions as requested by the supervisor. Desirable experience, knowledge, and skills for this position include: Knowledge of specialized care techniques unique to exotic animals and typical of zoo collection animals. Experience performing and/or assisting with basic veterinary procedures such as capture and restraint as well as administer prescribed medications (strictly according to written instruction). Knowledge of AZA Accredited zoo operating practices and principles, including safety principles for working with non-domestic animals as they pertain to zoo exhibits and performance of animal husbandry tasks is preferred. Ability to perform physical work (including lifting objects up to 60 lbs.) under all climatic conditions. Ability to work well with others, effectively communicate and interact with the public; express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Candidate is highly motivated and able to follow written and oral direction. The work schedule includes weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
