Boo at the Zoo 2017 Produces ZooMontana’s Largest Day!!

Boo at the Zoo, ZooMontana’s signature Halloween event, produced the Zoo’s largest crowd for a one day Zoo event in the history of the Zoo.  Over 5500 people attended the family event complete with candy, food trucks, magic shows, animal encounters and a haunted maze.  Boo at the Zoo is in its 18th year.  This year’s event was sponsored by Wendy’s, PayneWest, Brewer Dental Center and Ashlar Lodge #29.

Zoo Director Jeff Ewelt was excited with the turnout.  “I am blown away by the support that this community continues to show us.  It was a proud moment for my staff and volunteers to see the large crowds having fun at their Zoo.  It wasn’t always that way”, Ewelt said.  He added that the revenue generated at the event is crucial this time of year as the winter attendance begins to take center stage.

Due to the large volume of guests, the Zoo is already considering options for next year, including the possibility of adding an extra day, making Boo at the Zoo a 2-day event.  The Zoo’s next large scale, community event is ZooLights, the regions only drive through holiday display.  ZooMontana has invested nearly $12,000 into ZooLights this year, upgrading many of the fixtures to LED bulbs, ultimately saving the Zoo money in utility costs over time.  ZooLights start on Friday, December 8th and goes through the month of December.

Thank you to everyone that attended and helped at Boo at the Zoo!!
